Removing the camping in the forest area, with the relocation of the tents to an «adjacent urban area» to the premises of the Motard Concentration of Faro. This was the solution found so that the event, which starts this Thursday, July 14, is not cancelled. The municipality is still in "negotiations" with the owner of these lands, but is confident that they will reach good port.

Motorcycle club, Chamber, Government (remotely), Civil Protection and security forces were gathered this Tuesday, July 12, to discuss the possible cancellation of the Motard Concentration due to the contingency situation imposed by the fire hazard.

Speaking to journalists at the end, Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, explained that a solution was reached «which, although not the best», not least because he considers that this is a situation of «minimum danger», allows the event to continue.

It is about transferring the 14 hectares of the enclosure, which are located in an area of pine forest, to another “adjacent urban area”.

The remaining infrastructures, which are already being assembled, such as the Sul Informação proved on the spot, they remain in the same location: the stage, the reception area and also the catering area, because they are in an «area that is no longer forested».

In terms of safety, “everything is in place”, with a private Motoclube fire department (60 members) always on site, five tanker trucks, hoses and pumps, a lookout post and an alternative energy network to the public one.

With this solution, Rogério Bacalhau considered that the Government's order, which prohibits events in forested areas due to the danger of fire, "is fulfilled and the realization of the concentration is not jeopardized".

The Chamber of Faro is «in negotiations» with the owner of the land where the campsite will move, but Rogério Bacalhau was confident of a positive outcome.

“It will go well, without a shadow of a doubt: we are all focused on that. All motorcyclists can come and they will be welcomed», guaranteed the mayor of Faro.

Although there are already thousands of motorcyclists camped out, the mayor explained that this solution will be explained to them.

“Motorcyclists are very free people, but also very understanding and so they will certainly accept this situation”, he said.

At the end of this meeting, José Amaro, president of the Motoclube de Faro, also called for the “collaboration of all motorcyclists to comply with the rules”.

Regarding the negotiation process with the owner of the land, this official said he hopes they will reach good port. "We have to be optimistic," he said.

What if that deal fails? "There are few alternatives left," she admitted.
