The procession at sea, with fishermen's boats and other decorated vessels, from the port of Baleeira, will be, on August 15th, the high point of the festivities in honor of Nossa Senhora da Graça, in Sagres.
The festivities begin tomorrow, the 12th, at 17:30 pm, with the departure of the andors from the Church of Senhora da Graça, inside the Fortress of Sagres, for the new parish church, in this village. On the holy day, there will be a procession overland at 15:30 pm, followed by a mass at the Church of Sagres and, finally, a parade at sea.
From the profane programme, the lunches and dinners at the Pavilhão de Sagres stand out (on holidays, lunch will be a fish stew), but also the concerts, at 21:00: Brasa Doirada this Friday, the 12th, Sons do Sul, on Saturday, 13th, and Naomi & The Raposeira Dub Collective, on Sunday, 14th.
To reinforce, at 13:00 pm there will be musical entertainment: on Saturday with Marco Campaniça, on Sunday with Débora Machado.
On the 13th, at 16:00 pm, traditional games will also take place by the Núcleo de Artesãos PAFACUL, while on Sunday, at the same time, the games will be held at Baleeira.
The program of these four intense days of celebration also includes the presentation of the book «Encyclopedic Survey of the Families of Sagres – Monographic Study», by the genealogist Nuno Campos Inácio. It will be on Sunday, August 14, at 18:00, at the Interpretation Center of the old Lota de Sagres.
On a day dedicated by Catholics to Our Lady, she will be honored in at least four other places in the Algarve: in Ferragudo, with the festivities in honor of Nossa Senhora da ConceiçãoOn Albufeira, with Our Lady of Orada (in both cases, the programs also include a procession at sea), in Castro Marim, with Nossa Senhora dos Mártires (land procession at 18 pm on the 00th), and also in Vila Nova de Cacela and Cacela Velha, with Nossa Senhora dos Mártires Lady of the Assumption.
