Festivals in Honor of Nossa Senhora da Orada return to Albufeira

The festivities in honor of Nossa Senhora da Orada begin this Monday, August 1st, and will continue until the 15th, with a program that includes various religious manifestations. 

«This is a tradition that annually gathers hundreds of people to thank and ask for the protection of the Virgin, known for blessing the fishermen of the land. The story goes that the inhabitants of Albufeira, once a fishing village, witnessed several miracles of Our Lady, witnessed in the “ex-votos” that are kept in the Ermida da Orada», says the Albufeira Chamber.

The program begins today, at 21 pm, with the Procession in Honor of Nossa Senhora da Orada, from the Ermida to the Mother Church. From the 00th to the 9th of August, with the exception of the 11th, there will be a daily mass at 6:19, followed by the prayer of the rosary at 00:21, taking place in the Igreja Matriz.

On the 12th, the city hosts the candlelight procession, with the usual route from the Igreja Matriz to the Ermida; on the 13th there will be the evening Eucharist, in the Chapel of Beato Vicente, at 19:00, and in the Capela dos Olhos de Água at 21:00; at 21 pm there will also be a Marian Celebration in the Chapel of Orada.

The Sunday of August 14th is celebrated with various ceremonies: starting the festivities, at 9:30 am, the Sunday Eucharist takes place at the Main Church and at 11:30 am at Quinta da Balaia; at 17:30 pm there will be the Procession of Nossa Senhora da Orada, from the Ermida to the Marina; at 18:00 there is the Evening Eucharist of the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady next to the Marina, followed by the procession by the sea.

At 21 pm, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Orada hosts the concert “As 30 Noites do Acordeão”.

Closing the day, at 21:00 pm, the Eucharist for the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady takes place in the chapel of Olhos de Água. The celebrations end on the 15th of August, with the usual Eucharist for the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady: at 9:30 am at Igreja Matriz, at 11:30 am at Quinta da Balaia and at 19:00 pm at Ermida da Orada.
