Flu vaccines are free at pharmacies in Olhão

Just go to one of the participating pharmacies to have the vaccine given free of charge.

The municipality of Olhão has joined the Local SNS Vaccination Program once again, which, through investment by the municipality, allows the eligible population to go to one of the participating pharmacies so that they can be given the vaccine free of charge.

Similar to what happened last year, this initiative aims to expand and facilitate access to vaccination against seasonal flu. For this flu season, 2,5 million doses of flu vaccines are available under the National Health Service.

The administration will take place predominantly in the context of the National Health Service, but also in the context of community pharmacy, under the Local SNS Vaccination Program, to which the municipality of Olhão has joined again, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Association National of Pharmacies.

With financial support from the municipality, community pharmacies support the vaccination of populations between 6 months of age and 64 years who have chronic pathologies or conditions covered by free vaccination.

To this end, citizens covered by this measure must go to one of the participating pharmacies so that they can be given the flu vaccine free of charge.

They just need to be accompanied by the respective electronic medical prescription, which will be sent to them via SMS or, alternatively, will be available on the Electronic Drug Prescription Platform.

At a time when the epidemiological situation is once again putting Portugal and Europe on alert, joining this program is yet another measure to safeguard public health.
