Universidade do Algarve remains among the top 10 in the country on U-Multirank

Compared to last year, UAlg showed improvements in four indicators

The University of Algarve (UAlg) maintained its position in the Top 10 nationally, in the U-Multirank 2021, being in 8th position, in a ranking in which 25 Portuguese higher education institutions participate.

The Algarve academy achieved the maximum classification in seven indicators, and is still above average, with “Good” or “Very Good” in 16 indicators. Compared to last year, UAlg showed improvements in four indicators, two of them for the maximum classification.

The maximum rating of “Very Good” was achieved in the following indicators: Standard-sized research publications (Research); Postdocs (Research); Spin-offs (Knowledge transfer); Joint international publications (Internationalization); Foreign professors (Internationalization); International PhDs (Internationalization); Regional publications with industrial partners (Regional Involvement).

This year, a new indicator was created which, although not yet included in this year's general ranking, is considered in the specific classifications of each HEI: Gender Balance (Teaching and Learning). In this new indicator, UAlg presents a score of “0”, with a maximum classification of “Very Good”, indicating equal opportunities for both genders in the evolution of the academic career.

In previous years, “Research”, “Knowledge Transfer” and “Internationalization” had already achieved top marks as a result of UAlg's development strategy, which, underlines the Algarve academy, affirms it “as a cosmopolitan and innovative, which invests heavily in the production of knowledge and its transfer to society».

This year, the University of Algarve once again stood out in “Internationalisation”, with an improvement in the indicator for international doctorates.

This edition compares 1948 universities from 97 countries around the world, based on five performance criteria: Teaching and Learning, Research, Knowledge Transfer, Internationalization (International Orientation) and Involvement regional (Regional Engagement).

Each university is ranked taking into account a total of 35 indicators, which can be consulted here.
