Algarve GNR detains 18 people for driving with alcohol and a fine of 449 for speeding too much

The Territorial Command of Faro of GNR arrested, throughout the Algarve, 18 people for driving under the influence of alcohol and fined 449 drivers for speeding, during the week of November 14th to 20th.

According to data from its operational activity over the past week, the GNR also arrested 16 other people for driving without a legal license and seven for drug trafficking.

Guard troops also seized 322 doses of cannabis, 105 doses of cocaine, 40 doses of hashish, 30 doses of heroin and a saber.

During traffic inspection, 824 violations were detected. In addition to the 449 for speeding, there were also 57 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 32 related to anomalies in the lighting and signaling systems, 29 for improper use of the mobile phone while driving, 19 for lack of civil liability insurance and 17 due to lack of or incorrect use of the seat belt and/or child restraint system.

With regard to road accidents and in the area of ​​jurisdiction of the GNR in the Algarve, over the past week, there were 109 accidents, which resulted in one death, six serious injuries and 19 minor injuries.

But the Algarve GNR was also dedicated to 67 awareness-raising actions, involving 60 people under the Safe School and 35 elderly people under the Safe Elderly Programme.
