CCDR says that «this is the moment» to «rethink» the future of tourism

The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) considers that, «with the tourism sector in strong recovery, this is the time to rethink its future». 

This is the message left by CCDR on World Tourism Day.

According to this entity, «people and planets» must come to be «first», also investing «in the sustainability of tourist destinations and in valuing their actors, fairly sharing the growing financial income and preserving the cultural heritage of the peoples».

In a note sent to the press, CCDR also salutes all professionals in the sector, companies and workers, entities in the sector, «from the outset, the Regional Tourism Entity and Business Associations, and all those who make the Algarve a sustainable and excellent tourist destination ».

In celebrations of this year's World Tourism Day, which take place in Bali (Indonesia), the World Tourism Organization (WTO) proposes the involvement of all interested parties in a permanent reflection on the future of the tourism sector, from national governments to community entities. , around a shared vision of a sector that is more sustainable, inclusive and resistant to variations in economic cycles and the consequences arising from other exogenous factors.

According to the UNWTO, this inclusive platform for dialogue will allow the identification of solutions that operationalize the potential of tourism as an instrument of recovery and transformation, multiplying its central role as an inspiring force in society and will mobilize the will to cooperate in the construction of public policies more adequate for solve the problems that affect its full development.
