Alte Vocational School creates Community Aerobic Composting Unit

In the pilot plant, 16 composting units of 470 liters are being installed

The Professional School of Alte created a Community Aerobic Composting Unit in this village in the municipality of Loulé. 

«In the pilot unit, 16 composting units of 470 liters are being installed, in which organic waste from the Alte community will be collected and transformed into 100% natural organic compost that will be available to the entire community», explains the School. Professional, in a statement.

As part of the project, awareness-raising actions and theoretical-practical training on sustainability and the circular economy are being promoted, aimed at the local population, but open to other interested parties.

The network of entities, organizations and companies that have been adhering to the Project is being expanded, currently including the Alte Parish Council, the Alte Animation Center, the EB1 School of Alte, the Pro-Beneficência e Progresso de Alte Association, the Germano biciArte Café, the Fonte Nova Restaurant, the Ponte Restaurant, the Coviran Supermarket, the carpenters Vítor Martins and Henrique Silva, the Alte Tradition Guest House, the Alte Hotel and the ASAS Project – Aldeia dos Saberes e dos AfetoS.

The project has the financial support of “ACCIONADODS”, which is co-financed by EP-Interreg V Spain Portugal (POCTEP). This promotes a framework of cross-border institutional cooperation between organizations and institutions from Western Andalusia, Extremadura (Badajoz and Cáceres province) and the southern Portuguese regions of Algarve and Alentejo.
