APATRIS 21 and CHUA organize the first meeting of Adapted Padel

The meeting takes place on the 18th of April at the Eduardo Beldade Tennis Academy, in Faro

The Association of Carriers of Trisomy 21 of the Algarve (APATRIS21) and the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA) are organizing the first Adapted Padel meeting of Faro. The event, which will take place at the Eduardo Beldade Tennis Academy, in the Algarve capital, is scheduled for the 18th of April, at 10:00 am, and will feature the participation of 15 children and young people, between 5 and 16 years old.

The initiative comes within the scope of the annual adapted sports calendar organized by the CHUA Pediatric Development Center, which proposed this activity to APATRIS21.

«We chose adapted Padel because there had not yet been any encounter with this modality in Faro and because we consider that it is always good to carry out this type of outdoor activities», explains Afonso Franco to the Sul Informação.

The psychomotrician of APATRIS21 is organizing, together with the educator Inês Pereira from the Center for Pediatric Development of CHUA, this meeting, whose objectives are «to work on the global motor coordination related to padel and to promote the interaction between the children of the two entities , contributing to socialization».

According to Afonso Franco, these activities are important to «promote the practice of physical activity and the development of motor coordination» among these children and young people.

The idea is that, after this first meeting, there will be other initiatives on a monthly or quarterly basis.
