On the 8th of June, the City Council of Aljezur approved the launch of the public tender for the work for the Valorization and Requalification of the Ribeira de Aljezur, with a base value of around 250 thousand euros.
According to the municipality, "the work aims to fulfill the need to correct and improve the longitudinal and transversal continuity of the ecological corridor, based on criteria of safeguarding, promoting and enhancing biodiversity, using technical solutions of natural engineering and planting of native vegetation ».
"Places for the enjoyment of the water line, by residents and visitors" will also be created.
The project's intervention area encompasses the land and water plans in the public domain and the banks of the Ribeira de Aljezur, Ribeira da Cerca, Ribeira de Ceiceira and Ribeira das Alfambras, over a total length of 5,1 km.
The project was financed by the Environmental Fund, and this intervention «is the continuation of the valorization of the Aljezur stream, which is intended to be enjoyed and used, preserving the environmental values of fauna and flora and at the same time providing better conditions for the visitation», concludes the City Council of Aljezur.
