The StartUp Portimão project, a municipal business incubator located at the Algarve International Autodrome, was ranked second in the Business Environment Development category of the European Enterprise Promotion Awards 2020, which were delivered today, Monday, the 26th.
The European Enterprise Promotion Awards (EEPA), an initiative of the European Commission that in Portugal is coordinated by IAPMEI – Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation, «aimed at identifying and recognizing successful activities that support and stimulate entrepreneurial initiative, with particular emphasis on the role of the public sector at local, regional and national level in creating favorable conditions for the promotion of entrepreneurship and business development”.
In 2020, the projects chosen to represent Portugal in the International Final in Berlin, in November, were “Portugal Bike Value” and “HOSPESbyAHP Digital Platform”.
«The Portugal Bike Value, distinguished in the category of Support to the Internationalization of Companies, «is a project that aims to present the potential of the national territory for locating the bicycle industry, establishing itself as a player in the European supply chain». according to IAPMEI.
«The HOSPESbyAHP Digital Platform was distinguished in the category of Responsible and Inclusive Entrepreneurship, a project by AHP – Portuguese Hotel Association in partnership with Turismo de Portugal», added the same entity.
The EEPA are currently promoted in 32 countries and Portugal contributed with more than 25% of the total applications.
This year, IAPMEI received 51 applications in the six categories in the competition: Promotion of the entrepreneurial spirit; Investment in entrepreneurship skills; Development of the business environment; Support to the internationalization of companies; Support the development of green markets and resource efficiency; and Responsible and inclusive entrepreneurship.
