There is one more confirmed case of Covid-19 in the Algarve, thus breaking the regional series of five days in a row with no record of new infected. In Alentejo, there are 2 more infected, with the total rising to 250, according to the epidemiological bulletin of today, 21 May, of the General Directorate of Health (DGS).
Across the country, there are now 29.912 confirmed cases, in numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic (252 more than yesterday), which puts the increase in new cases below 1%. The Azores and Madeira remain without new cases for many days.
There are also a total of 1277 deaths, 14 more than yesterday. The regions where the deaths were registered were Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (plus 8), North (plus 4) and Center (plus 2).
As for the number of people recovered, the same 6452 people that had already been nominated yesterday remain.
In the Algarve and Alentejo, the number of deaths did not change, remaining at 15 and 1, respectively.
As for hospitalized people, in all hospitals in the country, there are now 608, 1 less than yesterday. Of these, 92 are in intensive care (less than 1).
By regions, this is the distribution of the number of cases, in accumulated numbers since the beginning of the pandemic: North (16.540, plus 52), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (8878, plus 190), Centro (3662, plus 7), Algarve (357, plus 1), Alentejo (250, plus 2), Azores (135, no new cases) and Madeira (90, no new cases).
There are, at this moment, 2125 citizens awaiting laboratory results, while another 22.741 people are under surveillance by the health authorities.
As of January 1, the total number of suspected cases was 303.811, but 271.774 of those have not been confirmed.
