The Covid-19 tests carried out on users and employees of the elderly homes of the Misericórdia of São Brás de Alportel and of the Parish Center of Martim Longo were all negative.

In São Brás de Alportel, the tests done last friday the 81 users and 75 employees of this home, by the Covid 70+ team from the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC), were all negative, which reveals «that, until now, the institution continues to win the fight against the new coronavirus, protecting the their seniors», according to the Chamber of São Brás de Alportel.

The analyzes made to the community of the Nursing Home Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in Martim Longo, had the same outcome, revealed Osvaldo Gonçalves, president of the municipality of Alcoutim, in a post on the social network Facebook.

Covid 70+ is the result of a partnership between the ABC, the University of Algarve and the Ministry of Social Security and has «a preventive nature and of the greatest importance in this fight, where anticipation is a powerful weapon», recalled the City of São Brás of Alportel.

"Alongside the preventive aspect, these actions help to maintain the serenity of institutionalized seniors and their families, who in the current context of the pandemic are prevented from visiting them," he added.

"To keep the elderly protected, the action plan will continue to be followed, with all rigor and in due course new tests and other actions will follow in this fight for life," concluded the municipality.

Osvaldo Gonçalves left a message for the future. "We will maintain good practices, we will continue to be demanding in strict compliance with the protection measures and everything will continue to be fine," he said.
