Secondary António Aleixo students participate in co-creation of Vocational Guidance activities

950 secondary school students were surveyed

The most recent survey carried out by the Psychology and Guidance Service of Escola Secundária Poeta António Aleixo, Portimão, allowed the conclusion that «there is still a lot to be done in the field of Vocational Guidance in the school context».

Of the 950 secondary school students surveyed, only 51% reported having projects for the future and knowing how to make them happen, with 75% agreeing with the statement “school can help me to build and implement projects for the future”.

With these data in mind, on December 6th, a working session was held with a group of 12th graders, within the scope of the Psychology discipline, which aimed to gather their opinions about how the school can promote the vocational development of secondary school students.

Concrete ideas and proposals were collected, to be developed at school and in the community, through collaboration between the education and youth sectors – namely study visits to schools and workplaces, structured information sessions on educational and training offer, contact direct work with professionals and employers, as well as activities that promote the development of skills valued by the labor market, examples of which are volunteering and participation in international mobility experiences.

This session was organized by young Veronica Vismara, from the Dypall Network association, in collaboration with professor Rui Correia and psychologist Isabel Quirino, both from Escola Secundária Poeta António Aleixo.

During the initiative, it assumed itself as a product of the first training course provided for in the project. Focus on Youth: Service Design and Co-Creation, which took place in November in Daugirdiškės, Lithuania.

A DYPALL Network is a partner in this international project, coordinated by Participation Agency (Norway), in collaboration with the Institute For Policy Research And Analysis (Lithuania)), the IDEA Lab Foundation (Poland) and the Institut Za Mladinsko Politiko (Slovenia), under the Erasmus+ Programme.
