Over 40 thousand people attended last night the concert by singer Bonnie Tyler, at Praia dos Pescadores, in Albufeira, which had as a surprise guest Cliff Richard, a British musician with strong links to the municipality of Albufeira.
This show, which culminated in a firework, was the highlight of the celebrations of Albufeira Municipality Day, celebrated yesterday, and which marks the attribution of the Charter, by King Dom Manuel I, to this municipality, there are 515 years.
During the afternoon, another important moment took place, the awarding of medals for good municipal service in the bronze, silver and gold degrees to workers with 15, 25 and 35 years of service, respectively.
«This ceremony is to thank you and recognize how much you have done for Albufeira. It is thanks to your effort and dedication that the executive has been able to do more and better for this land», said José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira.
The mayor assured that he is "doing the best we can so that all employees are proud to work with us and can better serve the citizens of Albufeira and everyone who visits us".
Paulo Freitas, president of the Albufeira Municipal Assembly, considered that “this tribute is a way of publicly recognizing and thanking the work, dedication, zeal and competence in carrying out the tasks of each municipal employee”.
In addition to the concert and the awarding of medals to employees with more time at the service, the celebration of the Municipality of Albufeira Day also featured a Solidarity Run and Walk, which reverted to the Firefighters Volunteers.
