Alcoutim created a Municipal Youth Forum, so that the municipality's youth can make their contribution to the City Council's youth policies.
Last week, the Alcouteneja municipality approved the Forum's proposal for internal regulations, which intends to be «a new common space for dialogue and reflection that brings the municipality and the youth of the municipality closer together, promoting the definition and development of new, appropriate municipal youth policies to the reality and needs of young people”.
“The future is for young people and the new generations of today are the builders of the society we will have and will be in tomorrow. It is with this assumption that the Municipality of Alcoutim considers it essential to increase the active participation of young people, in the process of building a community that is intended to be more inclusive, more solidary and happier», according to the Municipality of Alcoutim.
But, in order to create youth policies, it is “essential to know the real aspirations and aspirations of young people, their priorities and interests, which is only possible by listening carefully to their voice”.
«The Youth Forum is, therefore, a platform for listening to young people, a space for discussion, consultation and exchange of experiences, also assuming functions of dynamization and promotion of activities in the area of youth intervention, involving all young residents (formally associated or not), representatives of the youth area of parish councils and, institutions, associations and/or structures that work for and with this layer of the population, without exceptions, creating work groups and networks of contacts that allow them to be involved in more active in what are the projects and policies of young people in the municipality», concluded the alcouteneja autarchy.
