The Government placed this Thursday, August 10, in public consultation a diploma that creates a legal regime for the mandatory registration of drones

The document also provides for the constitution of a mandatory civil liability insurance for use for drones, whose maximum operational mass is equal to or greater than 250 grams.

This text "provides a framework for sanctions applicable to those who violate these obligations, in order to deter and censor appropriately and proportionally risky conduct that can jeopardize the safety of all", explains the Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure.

Os drones they have already forced planes to suspend, or delay, landings due to the risk of collision, particularly at Lisbon airport.

Although, at the international or European level, there is still no harmonized legislation specifically applicable, the Government decided to create this legal regime, "in order to allow a more effective supervision and inspection of this activity, taking into account the security issues that have arisen".

The text of the diploma is based on the proposals for a European regulation made available recently by the European Agency for Aviation Safety (EASA - European Aviation Safety Agency) and already reflects the contributions collected by the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), in the consultation carried out with the aeronautical community, security forces and associations of operators of drones.

In order to involve all interested parties in this matter, in particular the aeronautical community and the operators of drones, as well as civil society in general, public consultation of the diploma is promoted until October 10th, and anyone wishing to submit comments or proposals for amendments to the diploma is allowed.
