Interpretation, participation and sympathy will be some of the jury's evaluation criteria. The prizes will be awarded after the jury vote, on the second day, and consist of the following: Tuna mais Tuna – Grand Prix TUALLE, Best Tuna, 2nd Best Tuna, Best Original, Best Soloist, Best Instrumental, Best Tambourine, Best Standard Bearer and Best Parade (Pasa-Calles).
Ticket prices are 10 euros (one day) and 15 euros (two days)
This Festival has already taken three editions, the first taking place in 2000, the second in 2003, which gave rise to the edition of a CD, and the last in 2005. It returns again in this year of 2011 on a new date, integrating the celebrations of another anniversary of TUALLE.
The organization, which has the support of the City Council, guarantees that these two nights are in the right conditions for lots of music, good mood and academic spirit.
THE CURRENT
Tuna Universitária Afonsina de Loulé is a noble representative of the Institute in which its elements study, the Instituto Superior Dom Afonso III, in Loulé. A tuna where the elements belonging are exclusively male, thus respecting the old tradition of student troubadours.
This project began in mid-November 1999, with some ideas formed by elements of TUNAAF, Tuna Académica Dom Afonso III. These ideas were finally implemented in a meeting held by five students: Carlos Viegas, Emiliano Silva, Hugo Lopes, João Rodrigues and Júlio Guerreiro.
This meeting took place on December 1, 1999 (date of the foundation of Tuna), in one of the most emblematic cafés in the city of Loulé, where the well-known poet Aleixo used to recite his poems, Café Calcinha. From this meeting was born the Magnum Council, the founding entity of the tuna.
With the precious help of his friend Jorge Semião, the rehearsals began and, on March 19, 2000, TUALLE had its first official performance in Vilamoura. Since then, Tuna has had several performances in the most diverse regions of Portugal, from the Algarve through Alentejo, Estremadura, Beiras, Azores and Madeira.
With the academic spirit, and through music, the group has taken the joy and good cheer of the Algarve to all these places, raising the name of the city of Loulé and the University very high.
