113kg of fish seized in Quarteira in a joint action by the Maritime Police, GNR and ASAE

99,9 kg of seized fish was donated to a Social Solidarity Institution

The Maritime Police of Faro carried out yesterday, May 26, a joint action with the GNR and ASAE, in the Quarteira area, which resulted in the seizure of around 113 kilos of various fish.

During this action, five individuals were identified and inspected at the entrance to the port of Quarteira who, according to the Maritime Authority, were “in breach of the health rules for the sale of fresh fish”.

After complying with freshness and quality criteria, by the Municipal Veterinary Service of Faro, 99,9 kg of the seized fish was donated to a Social Solidarity Institution, with the rest of the fish delivered to the Center for the Recovery and Research of Wild Animals (RIAS), in the municipality of Olhão, «because it was considered unfit for human consumption ».

In this action, a total of two elements from the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Faro, four inspectors from ASAE and three members of the GNR.
