Ala dos Namorados celebrated 30 years of career with a packed room in Loulé

The night was marked by the premiere of songs from the new album but also by old hits

35 years in the city of Loulé, 30 years in the career of the Ala dos Namorados. The night of the 1st of February at the Cineteatro Louletano was expected to be full of emotions, which was to be confirmed. A packed room and an enthusiastic audience to watch the first official show of the band's new tour, which marks three decades of existence, and hear the unique voice of Loulé's Nuno Guerreiro, precisely on the day that Loulé celebrated its 35th anniversary.

And if, the day before, the Wing's "Open Rehearsal" that took place at the Capitólio, in Lisbon, promised good musical moments, Tuesday night was really breathtaking, with Nuno Guerreiro, João Gil, Rúben Alves, Nelson Cascais, Luís Cunha and Alexandre Frazão deserved an effusive applause from the Algarve public, at the end of the commemorative program for the Day of the City of Loulé.

The night was marked by the premiere of themes from the new album, “Brilhará”, which will be released this year, incorporating songs by João Gil and poems by eminent Portuguese-speaking writers and lyricists such as Mia Couto, José Eduardo Agualusa, Fernando Pessoa, Maria do Rosário Pedreira, Zeca Baleiro and João Gil.

But it was also the great hits like “Loucos de Lisboa”, Solta-se o Beijo” or “Fim do Mundo” that shone in the voice of countertenor Nuno, with a unique vocal register in national and even world music, and that warmed up the mood. Show.

Another of the highlights of the night was performed by another voice, that of João Gil, who sang the unmistakable “Perdidamente”, a poem by Florbela Espanca musically eternalized by Trovante, and which enchanted the human frame that was in the Cineteatro.

After this absolute debut, the band continues its journey in this round commemorative. The next concert is scheduled for February 14th, at Casino da Póvoa, in Póvoa do Varzim.

The Valentine's Ward was created in 1992 by João Gil and Manuel Paulo, later joined by José Moz Carrapa and Nuno Guerreiro. In 1994, the band released their self-titled debut album.

After some activity interruptions and line-up changes, this historic band of Portuguese music is back to celebrate 30 years of existence.
