It is a spectacle “that enters our heart” and tells us about “the imperfections of our behavior”. The new circus is back in Monchique for a different New Year's Eve. This time, “Lavrar o Mar” decided to innovate and, before settling in the Algarve mountains, “Dans Ton Coeur” will also be on the Alentejo coast.
In Monchique, one can already speak of tradition.
Since 2016 – with the exception of the pandemic years – “Lavrar o Mar” has organized an alternative program for New Year’s Eve, always with a new circus.
Now, overcoming Covid-19, the shows are back, with something new.
«We are going to have a new circus in Santiago do Cacém, expanding the concept to the Alentejo, something that has always been our goal with “Lavrar o Mira e a Lagoa”, a sister program to “Lavrar o Mar”», explains Madalena Victorino, to Sul Informação.
In Alentejo, the shows start this Saturday, December 17th, and will run until Monday, the 20th. On the 17th, 19th and 20th, the shows are at 21:00 and, on Sunday (18th), at 17:00.
In the Parque de Feiras e Exposições de Santiago do Cacém, the bustle is already great. The tent, which will be ready this Saturday, will have capacity for 560 people.
According to Madalena Victorino, this is a «show that enters us through the heart, with high quality music and acrobatics».
«Acrobats intertwine the small “nothings” of real life with incredible skills. Fridges rock, washing machines light up…», reads the synopsis.
After Santiago do Cacém, the French company Akoreacro, with its nine caravans, will descend to Monchique, where the new circus at this time of year is already a classic.
«Overcoming the pandemic, this is a much-desired return to Monchique. Being able to return to this concept of “new year, new circus” makes us very happy», confesses Madalena Victorino.
In the tent, which will be set up in the Heliport area, there will be five sessions: from the 26th to the 31st of December, at 21:00h, and, on the 1st of January, at 17:00h.
Ticket sales are going «very well», not least because, in Monchique, «there are already people from all over the Algarve looking for our year-end programme».
