Algarve was the region where unemployment fell the most in March

According to the IEFP, there were, at the end of March, 1667 job offers in the Algarve, an increase of 30,6% compared to February

The Algarve was the region of the country where unemployment fell the most in March, according to data released by the Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional (IEFP).

According to the IEFP report, at the end of last month, there were 18.859 registered unemployed in the Algarve, which represents a decrease of 19,7% compared to February this year.

If the comparison is made with last year, when there were 33.453 registered, there is a reduction of almost 15 thousand people looking for a job in the Algarve.

The year-on-year fall in unemployment in February (-44,4%) is also the biggest recorded in the entire country.

This drop is, in part, related to the fact that, in March, many hotels had already booked so much for the Easter season, which was good at tourist level, how to start preparing for the summer.

In March, the golf season also begins.

These unemployment data are, moreover, in line with those of 2017, the pre-pandemic year.

According to the IEFP, there were, at the end of March, 1667 job offers in the Algarve, an increase of 30,6% compared to February.

If we compare it with the same period last year (March 2021, when Portugal was experiencing a second general confinement), the growth is 319,9%, the highest in the entire country.
