Classical Music returns to Cacela Velha in August

Concert cycle will include a concert by the Trio de Flautas do Algarve and a Piano recital with Vasco Dantas

The cycle of concerts «Clássica em Cacela» will return to Cacela Velha, on the 4th and 9th of August, bringing intimate classical music shows to places of heritage interest in the village.

In this 10th edition, the cycle brings this year two concerts, the Trio de Flautas do Algarve, in the church of Cacela Velha, taking place on the 4th of August, at 21 pm, and a piano recital with Vasco Dantas taking place at the old cemetery, on August 00th, at 9 pm.

The Trio de Flutas do Algarve, made up of the Algarve flutists Ana Figueiras, Filipa Oliveira and Teresa Matias, has been developing its professional career in the area of ​​early music, having as main focuses the development of historically informed performance and the dynamization of the flute of bezel in the region.

His performance will take place in the 1755th-century church of Nossa Sr.ª da Assunção, in Cacela Velha, rebuilt after the earthquake of XNUMX, which will provide the ideal acoustics for this concert, where works by well-known composers from the Baroque period will be heard.

The pianist Vasco Dantas, headliner for this edition, made his debut in 2019 in a solo recital at Carnegie Hall, in New York, and in 2017 at the Great Room of the Tchaikovksy Conservatory in Moscow, with the Chamber Orchestra Kremlin.

His discography includes 4 albums, being them Promenade (2015), Golden Liszt (2016), Freitas Branco (2019) and Poetic Scenes (2020).

In Cacela Velha, he will present works by Debussy, among other composers, with the sea and the Ria Formosa as a backdrop.

The cycle «Classic in Cacela» is organized by the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, in collaboration with Algartes – Association for the promotion and development of classical music in the Algarve, with the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.

Aiming to be an erudite and quality alternative within the summer cultural offer of the Eastern Algarve, and at the same time focusing on young talents and less familiar repertoires of the general public, the cycle had its first edition in 2008, with programming and artistic direction by the Algarve flutist Teresa Matias and organized by the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António.

The shows have been held in places of heritage interest in the village of Cacela Velha, the Igreja Matriz and the old cemetery.

The event has been asserting itself, with the participation of the public growing from edition to edition.

Admission to the show will cost 10 euros, while for the performance at the Igreja Matriz in Cacela Velha it will be in donations.
