Nature Watchers submit proposal to review their professional career

It is necessary to hire "new staff that will strengthen the Corps of Nature Watchers throughout the country".

The SNPC-National Civil Protection Union sent today, to the Left Bloc, a proposal to review the professional career of the Nature Watch Corps, after the «commitment that was assumed by the Coordinator of the Left Bloc, Catarina Martins». to take the issue to a parliamentary hearing.

"With this proposal, we want all deputies to be able to discuss the bet on a specialized body, reinforced in the number of staff and with a salary base adjusted to the functions they currently perform", emphasize the Nature Watchers.

These professionals, who perform essential functions related to the conservation of nature and biodiversity, recall that "for more than 20 years there has been no review of the professional career".

On the other hand, "lack of investment has been reflected at the material level with constant failures in uniforms, personal protective equipment, vehicles continuously damaged and without authorization for their repair, lack of material, namely for the monitoring of species such as the lynx, lack of adequate training for its functions'.

They also defend the “need for new troops that will reinforce the Corps of Nature Watchers throughout the national territory”.

The Union adds that “it is also working on the Career and Professional Statute of Sapadores Florestais, so that these proposals can be sent soon, so that they can be also presented and discussed in general in parliamentary hearings, as assumed publicly".

The theme of the review of professional careers had already been debated and presented, both to the president of ICNF, and to the Secretary of State for Nature Conservation, Forests and Spatial Planning, at the beginning of last year, during the XXIII National Meeting of Nature Watchers, which took place from January 31st to February 2nd, in Vila do Bispo. However, nothing has progressed since then.
