This Thursday, June 10th, the Portuguese Association of Museology will present the APOM Awards to Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve (DRCAlg) and the Museums of Faro and Portimão.
The ceremony, at the Portimonense museum, will be at 11:00 am and, in Faroat 17 pm.
The APOM 2020 Awards were announced on December 10, and the Municipal Museum of Faro, with the Museology Work Award, for the “The Mosaic of the Ocean: a timeless treasure from Ossónoba” and DRCAlg, with the Institution Award, for its support to museums and museological activity.
As for the Portimão Museum, it will receive an Honorable Mention for the Innovation and Creativity Award, for the “Recreation of the unloading of sardines on the Portimão quay”, which took place in August 2019.
João Neto, president of APOM, will visit the two Algarve museums, accompanied by the regional director of Culture of the Algarve, the respective mayors and directors of both museums.
The APOM awards are awarded annually by the Portuguese Association of Museology, with the aim of «encouraging and rewarding the imagination and creativity of Portuguese museologists, recognizing their effective contribution to improving the quality of museums in Portugal, being also a way of giving visibility to the best that is done in the field of museology in the country», says DRCAlg.
