The work done to exhibit permanently "The Mosaic of the Ocean: a timeless treasure from Ossónoba” thanks to the Municipal Museum of Faro the Museology Work Prize, awarded yesterday by the Portuguese Association of Museology (APOM).
In the Algarve, the Portimão Museum was also awarded, this time with an Honorable Mention, in the Innovation and Creativity Award category, by the recreation of the unloading of sardines at the Portimão pier, which took place in August 2019.
The Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, along with all the others in the rest of the country, was also awarded the Institution Prize.
The 25th edition of the APOM Awards Ceremony took place yesterday, December 10th. It was an online edition, in times of pandemic, but that, nevertheless, did not stop celebrating the best that Portugal does in Museums and by its professionals.
This year's edition had 208 applications, involving institutions from Mainland Portugal and the Autonomous Regions.
It also took on a markedly international dimension, recognizing the excellence of projects for the exhibition and cultural dissemination of Portugal abroad.
The Museum of the Year Award, APOM's highest award, was awarded to the Madeira Photography Museum – Atelier Vicente's Madeira.
