Seahorse roamed free in Monchique kindergartens [with photos]

An interactive show of music and dance Cavalo~Marinho enchanted the children and their families of the Monchique Schools Group, in yet another educational action by PEEA

 

Cavalo~Marinho, a short piece of dance and music for early childhood, with artistic direction by Madalena Victorino and co-created and performed by dancer Alice Duarte and saxophonist Ana Raquel, took place in eight sessions, on June 10th and 11th , at the Monchique Kindergarten.

Maria de Jesus Duarte, director of the Monchique Schools Group, emphasizes that this initiative “is one more of the educational actions of the Aesthetic and Artistic Education Project in our group, which, this time, challenged children from pre-school and 1st cycle and their families entering the imaginary world of a lake, between sky and sea. The adventures experienced by the children are already an emotional reserve from which transdisciplinary activities are emerging”.

Helena Tapadinhas, ambassador of the Aesthetic and Artistic Education Project/DGE in the Algarve, said that “by making fruition projects happen aimed at the school community, the PEEA intends to make the carousel of dreams spin, as the sea horse did in this magical world provided. for this remarkable aesthetic and artistic experience”.

In addition to this enchanting dimension, “this show also has the fundamental aspect of the territory, by addressing the theme of seahorses, a few days after having been published the decree-law that grants a protection regime to this species, and have been delimited refuge areas in the Ria Formosa”, adds the person in charge.

The Monchique Schools Group has been part of the PEEA network of the Directorate-General for Education since 2019, having already carried out two teacher training actions (an Artistic Education workshop and a Theater Course).

Now preparing to start three PART projects | art and territory projects, with dance performances in the community on the 25th of June, 2nd and 8th of July.

The educational activities of the PEEA in Monchique are the result of a partnership with the Municipal Council of this mountain council in the Algarve, whose protocol will be signed in a ceremony on the 2nd of July.
