Francisco Martins is the new member of ARS/Algarve

The former mayor of Lagoa will replace Tiago Botelho

Francisco Martins, former mayor of Lagoa and deputy to the Secretary of State for Health, is the new member of the Regional Health Administration (ARS) of the Algarve. The order, signed by the Minister of Health, was published this Monday, August 17, in Diário da República. 

The former mayor of Lagos will replace Tiago Botelho (PSD), former member of the ARS who ended his service commission.

As another member of the Board of Directors of ARS Algarve, chaired by Paulo Morgado, Josélia Gonçalves remains.

Francisco Martins is a nurse by profession, having completed the course at the Nursing School of Faro, in December 1990.

From October 2013 until July 2019, he was the mayor of Lagoa. the former mayor resigned, when he had even been elected for a second term, citing health problems.

As a mayor, he was a member of AMAL, the Algarve Intermunicipal Community and of the General Council of the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities.

In December of last year, it was appointed deputy of the Algarve Jamila Madeira, Assistant Secretary of State for Health, a position she now leaves to assume functions at ARS/Algarve.
