Francisco Martins leaves the presidency of the Lagoa Chamber this month

Luís Encarnação becomes president

Francisco Martins will abdicate the position of mayor of Lagoa this month, for health reasons. The presidency of the autarchy will be assumed by Luís Encarnação, current vice-president.

The news of the imminent departure of Francisco Martins from the autarchy was advanced by the newspaper Algarve Vivo, which guarantees that the decision has already been announced to the most direct employees of the mayor of Lagos.

Contacted by Sul Informação, the still vice-president Luís Encarnação said he did not want to comment on this news, taking into account that the change "is not official yet".

But, according to what our newspaper found out, the exit should really happen.

Algarve Vivo also says that Francisco Martins has been undergoing treatments for about a year and that he “took his effort to the limit of his strength”, not being able to finish his mandate, as he intended. .

“On the day he communicated the decision to the people closest to him, he even said that he “would prefer to leave the Chamber on his feet rather than lying down,” added Algarve Vivo.

The departure of Francisco Martins will motivate the rise of Luís Encarnação as president. Councilwoman Anabela Simão becomes number two on the executive and Mário Guerreiro, current director of the Conservatory of Arts in Lagoa, should join the already former socialist councilors Jorge Pardal and Ana Martins.
