Rodrigo Veloso, who won 3rd place in the “Virtuoso 15” category, and Tiago Conceição, also third in the “World Music 12” category, were two of the young people from Algarve who shone in the International Accordion Award, in Castelfidardo, Italy, which took place between the 18th and 22nd of September, and had a record number of 259 participants.
Pedro Gonçalves, a young man from Olho, also stood out, having been on the edge of the podium, in 4th place, in two categories (“Wold Music Senior” and “Virtuoso Senior”).
Nine more young people from the Algarve, also students of Professor Nelson Conceição, participated for the first time in this international event, with «honorable classifications».
In 2018, an Algarvian had already distinguished himself in this award, when the Loulé João Palma won the “Junior Virtuoso” category.
The students had the support of the Association of Accordion Garvefole, which in turn had the support of the Municipality of Loulé,
Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, Parish Council of São Clemente, Parish Council of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, Associação Mito Algarvio e Beltuna.
