Moçoilas and Maria João rejoin at Festival F

Girls are the 2019 Figure Artist

The Algarve musical group Moçoilas will join the singer Maria João in a concert scheduled for September 5th, during the F Festival, in Faro.

This will be an «unlikely, surprising and daring show, bringing together jazz and improvised music diva Maria João with the singular and irreverent Moçoilas, a group of three women (Margarida Guerreiro, Inês Rosa and Teresa Silva) who interpret a capella traditional songs from the south , of Mediterranean matrix'.

In this concert, the motto will be «the crossing of different musical latitudes (Portugal, Brazil, Africa and others) in which tradition and contemporaneity interpenetrate to originate new and creative approaches, in a format of great artistic complicity and proximity to the public».

This is not the first time that the Algarve group has joined Maria João in a concert. In 2018, the four artists had already shared the stage of the Cine-Teatro Louletano, a concert that will now be re-edited in Faro.

The Moçoilas will be at Festival F in the condition of Artista Figuras 2019, a section of Teatro das Figuras that aims to provide a stage and pay homage to Algarve artists.

Before, and in the same condition, the traditional music group had already released their new album “Atão, Por Não?” in the renowned Farense concert hall, in a concert that took place in April and that coincided with the celebration of the band's 25th anniversary.

On November 30, the Moçoilas return to Teatro das Figuras, this time accompanied by Galandum Galundaina, a musical group from traz-os-montes that is also dedicated to collecting ancient music from the Serra, to preserve them for the future.
