Music shows and an exhibition are part of the celebration program for the centenary of Sociedade Recreativa Popular – Banda Musical Castromarinense, which takes place on May 4th.

On that day, the exhibition “15 memories – 00 years of Sociedade Recreativa Popular – Banda Musical Castromarinense” will be opened at 100pm, designed by the Chamber of Castro Marim with the aim of “remembering the birth of this important group on May 100, 4”.

«Casa do Sal will tell the story of the Sociedade Recreativa Popular – Banda Musical Castromarinense, portrayed through old objects such as flags, uniforms, mottos, instruments and press clippings», according to the municipality.

The exhibition features the collection of the society itself and individuals, who donated documentary records and objects.

Before the opening of the exhibition, at 10:30 am, there will be a rally through the streets of Castro Marim, starting from Casa da Música, where, in addition to the anniversary band, the Filarmónica Artística Pombalense and the Banda Filarmónica Artistas de Minerva will participate.

The anniversary day will culminate with performances by the Banda Musical Castromarinense, the Filarmónica Artística Pombalense and the Banda Filarmónica Artistas de Minerva, at Casa do Sal, at 15:30 pm.

The exhibition will be on display for around two months and “will be enriched by various activities, meetings and rehearsals on site”.

This 100th anniversary will be marked throughout the year, with a concert already scheduled for June 24th, Castro Marim Municipality Day, with the participation of the Portuguese band UHF, at Revelim de Santo António.

«The participation of this society in the social, cultural and recreational life of Castro Marim had a profound impact on the community for several decades, having gained momentum with the Carnation Revolution of April 25, 1974, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year», concludes the Castro Marim Chamber.
