"So why not?" is the name of the new album by Moçoilas, which will be presented next Tuesday, April 30th, in the Theater of FiguresOn Faro. The release of the album also coincides with the celebration of the group's 25-year career.
Inês Rosa, Margarida Guerreiro and Teresa Silva are currently the Moçoilas, a group that “is born from the desire to rekindle and recover the corners of the South, more precisely the Algarve region. Forgotten or hidden in time and in the depths of a mountain full of sounds, smells, colors and unique knowledge, these songs are part and represent a large part of our cultural heritage, reflecting the soul and traditions of a Serra do Caldeirão, where the singing has always been a national identity».
The Moçoilas reinterpret old themes and enrich them «with their own energy, modifying some, appropriating others and preparing the way for new melodies and new songs».
After 25 years of «a prestigious and long career, full of adventures, successes, experiences and sharing memories», «there's nothing better than celebrating this date with the release of a new album», highlights Algeventos, which manages the group .
«Returning to the Serra Mãe of this project, this album revives experiences, brings to light the voices of the women of this mountain range and rekindles memories of other times. Times of heavy experiences, but now revived in the form of new and joyful sounds, which do not forget the disappointments of life, but which transform them into a reflection of strength and tenacity, characteristic of women in the South», adds the company.
According to Algeventos, «the emerging sound is reborn from the need to continue to make heard and affirm the sounds of the base, the root, the earth and a disenchanted cassette in the bottom of a trunk, where sounds and songs collected in the 90s were discovered , in the localities of Currais and Cachopo. A creative mix, where the traditional and the modern come together through the voice of the Moçoilas, adding other songs that have accompanied the group, but not yet edited, and new ones, eternalizing the soul of the mountain songs».
