UAlg is once again among the best young universities in the world

For Paulo Águas, dean of UAlg, «this is excellent news for the University of Algarve»

The University of Algarve (UAlg) appears for the second time in the ranking from the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2019, which analyzes the performance of higher education institutions created 50 years ago or less.

Among the eight Portuguese higher education institutions that make up this ranking international, UAlg stands out in the indicator that assesses international projection.

The THE list only indicates the exact place of institutions up to the 100th position, from which they are classified by large intervals, without hierarchy.

Despite the increased competitiveness of this ranking, UAlg maintains the classification obtained in 2018 between positions 151 and 200. This is the eighth year of publication of the evaluation by THE, which in this edition includes 351 institutions (250 in 2018), from 60 different countries (55 in 2018).

The 13 indicators evaluated are the same used in the Times Higher Education World Ranking of Universities and are organized around five major areas: the quality of teaching and research, citations of scientific articles produced, their relationship with industry or the international projection.

For Paulo Águas, dean of UAlg, «this is excellent news for the University of Algarve, which, in the year of its 40th anniversary, is once again seeing its international projection and the work developed in its various dimensions recognized».
