The rehabilitation works of the Praia de Camping Park Faro will start "in September or October". The tender for the intervention was held, the contract was signed and has already been approved by the Court of Auditors, so the current occupants of the space will have to leave the site before the work begins.
Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, he guaranteed, in an interview with Sul Informação, that “at the end of September or beginning of October, the work is to begin. Users have already been notified and, in September, they will have to leave».
Despite everything being ready for work to begin, the Chamber will wait for the end of the bathing season, so as not to cause inconvenience to the bathers. The goal is for the park to reopen in the summer of 2020.
The termination of the lending contract with the Users' Association of the Camping Park of Faro, which has been in effect since 2010, was approved at the Chamber Meeting in September last year.

The renovation of the Praia de Praia campsite Faro it will cost around 450 thousand euros and will not involve a deep intervention, as no new buildings will be built.
A cleaning will be carried out, new water and sanitation infrastructure will be built and existing buildings will be renovated.
The new campsite will have 200 lots for tents, 84 of which will be large tents, and 24 spaces for motorhomes.
Although those responsible for the Users' Association have always shown themselves willing to participate in the management of the park, the City Council Faro does not intend to give in on this point, since the management will be public, carried out by the autarchy.
In fact, according to Rogério Bacalhau, the municipal services are already drawing up the future Regulation for the functioning of the camping, which will then be subject to the usual approvals.
The rotation defended by the Municipality is also not consensual, being criticized by the current occupants of the space, who do not consider it viable.
“There are no parks that survive without residents. We want a park, but let it be a park for everyone, where we can stay. There is space for residents and for rotation. We have acquired rights over this space, moral and historical». said Luís Arsénio, member of the board of the users' association, in June last year.
