Drivers from all over Europe compete in Rallye Casinos do Algarve

The Algarve race was once again chosen by the FIA ​​as the stage for the Final of the European Rally Trophy

Six dozen teams are registered in the Rallye Casinos do Algarve, which will hit the road on November 16th and 17th. Once again, this competition will be the stage for several championship and cup decisions.

Of these, 34 teams (22 Portuguese and 12 foreign) are in the race for the last race of the Portuguese Rally Championship (CPR) and the European Rally Trophy – Final FIA (ERT). There are still 16 R5 teams.

The presentation of the Algarve Casinos Rallye 2018 took place on the 9th, at the Hotel Algarve Casino, with the presence of the mayor of Monchique (Rui André), the deputy mayor of Lagoa (Luís Encarnação) and the councilor of the municipality of Portimão (Teresa Mendes). as well as the vice-president of the Algarve Tourism Region (Fátima Catarina).

The three main Algarve pilots were also present: Ricardo Teodósio, Digo Gago and Márcio Barreiros.

The rally, organized by the Clube Automóvel do Algarve, is, this year, divided into four Algarve councils. Thus, the Porches area, in Lagoa, will host the Shakedown, taking place between 08:00 am and 10:00 am on Friday, the 16th. The square next to the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa hosts the departure ceremony, scheduled for 13:30 pm .

Soon after, in the afternoon, drivers and machines head to the Monchique mountains, where they will cover the sections of Alferce (9,9 km) and Fóia (16,6 km).

At 21 pm on Friday, the 00th, the Lagos Super-Special will take place, an event that promises a lot of spectacle on a 16 km route. The cars then rest in the closed park, located in the Arade Congress Centre.

On Saturday, the 17th, the competitors will return to Monchique, to cover the sections of Chilrão (20,1 km), Nave Redonda (18,2 km) and Monchique (13,2 km).

For its part, the Hotel Algarve Casino, in Praia da Rocha, is once again operating as the Operational Center for the rally. In front of this hotel, the podium ceremony will take place, scheduled for 16 pm on Saturday.

In the National Rally Championship, the dispute will be lit between Armindo Araújo (number 1, at the controls of his Hyundai i20 R5), and the Algarve's Ricardo Teodósio (number 2, in Skoda Fabia R5). José Pedro Fontes is number 3 (Citröen C3 R5), although with more distant chances of becoming champion.

Rallye Casinos do Algarve is organized by the Clube Automóvel do Algarve, under the aegis of the International Automobile Federation and the Portuguese Automobile Federation, with the sponsorship of Solverde – Casinos do Algarve and the support of the municipalities of Lagoa, Lagos, Monchique and Portimão.
