This is guaranteed by the organization of the most recent Algarve hiking festival, which took place in this village in the municipality of Lagos and in the Mata Nacional that borders it between the 1st and 4th of November and was attended by around five hundred participants.
The festival, organized by the association Almargem and the Câmara de Lagos, «was a success and has everything to become a reference event, mainly due to the connection with art and the strategic location where Barão de São João is located, being easy access. It was notorious how people were enchanted by this village with so much to show».

The «workshops promoted by the partner artists turned out to be one of the main attractions of the program, considering that they are themes where it is not usual to offer associated activities».
“The good atmosphere of the Festival and the good mood of the participants were without a doubt the most relevant aspect. The biggest difficulty, according to the participants, was choosing which activities to carry out taking into account the huge range available», added the organization.
However, the 2019 edition of the festival is already assured and dates are already defined: between the 1st and 3rd of November.
