Children from the Barlavento Algarve who need pediatric services and who go to the Hospital de Portimão, from today, Friday, until Sunday, will be transferred to the Hospital Particular de Alvor, due to the lack of human resources in the Emergency Room of Pediatrics in that unit of the Hospital Center of the Algarve.

In a statement, the Algarve Regional Health Administration (ARS) explains that, «taking into account the difficulties in terms of human resources to fill in the scales to ensure access to the Pediatrics Emergency Department in the Portimão center of the Algarve Hospital of week', the Board of Directors of that entity 'diligenced with the Board of Directors of the Centro Hospitalar do Algarve to make the contracting of the provision of Emergency Pediatrics service this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (6, 7 and 8 of January) with the Hospital Particular do Algarve, in Alvor».

The ARS clarifies that, first, "users will be seen at the Emergency Room of Portimão" and only if "they need pediatric services" will they be sent to that "private hospital unit".

According to the same note, the ARS predicts that the situation will be resolved from 20 pm on Sunday, January 00th.

On the Christmas weekend, the lack of human resources in the Orthopedics Emergency Department had already led the Hospital Center of the Algarve to hire the services of the Hospital Particular do Algarve.
