Baja European City of Sports takes adrenaline to Loulé, Alcoutim and Almodôvar

On the 30th and 31st of May, the city of Loulé will host the Baja European City of Sport, and the competition routes also extend to the municipalities of Alcoutim and Almodôvar. Baja is part of the national championships for off-road motorcycles, quads and UTV-Buggy.

In this race, quads and motorcycles are the first to come into action, followed by the UTV-Buggys.

The race begins with a prologue/super special with 7,8 kilometers drawn in the vicinity of the city of Loulé, «in a mix of fast road with good ground and more winding and technical areas».

To watch the prologue, there will be a show area easily accessible to the public. In this place, it will be possible to see «two big jumps that allow the participants of the two wheels, and not only, to show themselves».

On Sunday, the race consists of two tracks using the trails of the triangle Loulé, Alcoutim and Almodôvar, with 173 and 72 kilometers. The selected route is, according to the organization, «very rolling, mostly with good ground and characteristics very similar to rally sections».

In the largest sector, two more assistance zones are planned, at the Barrada site and in Martim Longo.

The UTV/Buggy, on the other hand, make two distinct Selective Sectors over 245 kilometers. They begin their test at Cortelha for the larger Selective Sector, which ends in the Alentejo village of Almodôvar. There is a short connection to Ameixial, starting point for the last sector that will end at the Cortelha Motocross track.

Amateurs also have the opportunity to show their skills behind the wheel

Baja will also have a Hobby class, which is intended to promote the TT mode. Only riders without a motorcycle sport license in the last three years can participate in this competition.

In addition to the prologue, participants in this class only participate in the longest route, between Cortelha and Almodôvar, and start behind the CNTT competitors.

The Baja European City of Sport 2015 is organized by the Clube Automóvel do Algarve and has the support of the Municipalities of Loulé, Alcoutim and Almodôvar and the sponsorship of Solverde-Casinos do Algarve.
