Pedro Passos Coelho and anti-toll protesters will this Tuesday be the main characters of the traditional Festa do Pontal, which marks the political rentrée of the PSD.

The prime minister closes his two weeks of vacation in the Algarve today with a speech at the Festa do Pontal, a party that this year, and for the first time, takes place in a closed space.

This is perhaps the last time the Social Democrats' party takes place on the 14th of August, as in 2013 the 15th is no longer a holiday.

But this year there will already be news – as of now, the fact that the party takes place not on Quarteira's sidewalk, as has been happening in recent years, but in the hotel lounge of a water park, also near Quarteira, a change that the PSD/ Algarve justified with “financial and logistical reasons”, thus denying the comments that were made that the social democrats were fleeing the streets and their popular matrix.

The hall has a capacity for 1.500 participants and will be sold out.

At the party, there will be local, regional and national leaders of the PSD. As usual, the two substantive interventions will be in charge of the president of the PSD/Algarve (Luís Gomes) and the national president of the party, Prime Minister Passos Coelho.
