Autódromo Internacional do Algarve will have a renewable energy community

The project is expected to be completed by mid-June.

The Algarve International Circuit (AIA) will have arenewable energy unit, after a partnership with the company SES Energia. The installation of 2000 solar panels will avoid the emission of 841 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to the planting of around 38.227 trees.

«We are very pleased with this partnership with AIA, for the contribution that we will all make to the energy transition, following the company's objectives, but also the European objectives of combating climate change», says Paulo Silva, executive director of SES Energia.

«The Algarve has excellent conditions to take advantage of these green energy production solutions, reinforcing AIA's capacity for innovation and developing projects with social and environmental responsibility», he adds.

Paulo Pinheiro, administrator of Parkalgar, states that «this project, in partnership with SES, is part of a set of initiatives integrated into the Global Plan for the sustainability of the AIA. The main objective is to obtain Sustainability certification for our events, a process already underway».

This partnership, recently formalized, immediately advanced with the construction of the 1st phase even before the Portuguese MotoGP Grand Prix, followed now by phase 2, with construction on the ground.

The expectation is to complete the project in mid-June.
