Vila do Bispo puts an end to the process of the 80s with the acquisition of land

Deed was signed on January 27th

The Vila do Bispo City Council signed, on the 27th of January, the deed for the purchase of land, on the Outeiro site, where part of one of Vila do Bispo's water tanks was built, thus putting an end to a process that has been going on since the 80s.

The land, with an area of 230 square meters, was acquired for 90 thousand euros, by decision of the local authority, approved unanimously, at a council meeting on May 16 last year.

According to the Chamber, this is “the culmination of a situation that has dragged on for several years”.

First, in the 80s, it was agreed with the previous owner that the City Council, in exchange for the land on which the reservoir was built, would make urban land of equal value available to him as soon as possible in another location.

Then, in 2009, a proposal was presented to the current owner to exchange the Outeiro land for a plot in Urbanização Roça do Veiga in Sagres, which received her agreement.

«Despite the agreement between the parties, the deed of exchange was not implemented. In the following years, the exchange of correspondence between the parties continued, however the exchange never materialized, meaning that the ownership of the land never ceased to be private», the municipality further explains.

Finally, in 2021, the owner of the land proposed to the municipality to purchase the land. The proposal was approved at an executive meeting.

For Rute Silva, mayor of this Municipality, «this is yet another process, with a long history, that the current executive puts an end to. Which means that in the current mandate the “problems” are not postponed».
