IPMA placed the Algarve coast under Yellow Notice

The bars of Alvor and Lagos, on the south coast of the Algarve, are today closed to all navigation, due to strong sea disturbances.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) placed the district of Faro under yellow warning due to forecast southeasterly waves measuring two to 2,5 meters, at least until 18pm today.

These are two of the six sea bars that are closed to navigation on the Mainland and Azores, while three are closed due to the forecast of sea unrest.

According to the National Maritime Authority (ANM), the bars at Portinho da Ericeira, in the center of the country, as well as the bars at Santa Cruz das Flores, Lajes das Flores and Porto da Casa, on the island of Corvo, are also closed. , in the Azores.

The bars in Esposende, Póvoa de Varzim and Vila do Conde are restricted: In Esposende, the bar is limited to vessels with a draft greater than 0,3 meters and only between three hours before and up to three hours after high tide, while In Vila do Conde, vessels with a draft of more than two meters can only sail between two hours before and two hours after high tide.

In Póvoa de Varzim, vessels with a draft greater than two meters must practice barging only in the period between two hours before and up to two hours after high tide, with the ANM advising “special care” due to the silted state of the water. bar.
