The Municipal Assembly of Lagoa approved, this Wednesday, December 13th, the largest budget the municipality has ever had, worth more than 61 million euros.
In this way, 2024 will be the year in which the Municipality of Lagoa will have the greatest financial availability.
Approved by a majority, the Budget and the Major Options of the Plan for the year 2024, had 15 favorable votes from the Socialist Party bench, with 9 abstentions (1-PS, 3-PSD, 1-BE, 1-CDU, 3 -Movimento Lagoa first) and a vote against CHEGA.
The documents, according to the municipality, are in line with the «strategy defined by the permanent executive and is based on two purposes, the renewal of the municipality's main water supply pipelines and housing, as well as six commitments, in the areas of education, action social, cultural, sports, urban cleaning and municipal works».
The Municipality will therefore focus on housing, «especially for younger people», as well as water supply, among other areas.
The permanent executive considers that the Budget and the Major Options of the Plan for the year 2024 will allow «to continue to present balanced and sustainable municipal finances, in the medium and long term, as has been recognized, year after year, by the Financial Yearbook of Portuguese Municipalities ».
«Having in hand the largest budget the Municipality of Lagoa has ever had is an enormous challenge for which we are prepared. The strategy is well defined and we will continue to give priority to the people of Lagoa», stated Luís Encarnação, president of Lagoa City Council.
