The Municipality of Tavira joined the national campaign “Estendal dos Direito”, in order to mark the 34th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The Commission for the Protection of Children and Young People of Tavira intended with this membership to «increase public awareness on this issue, train responsible citizenship, reinforce the protection of children and young people at risk and raise awareness and inform young people about their rights and duties”.
In this sense, an exhibition on children's rights is taking place until November 30th, at Mercado da Ribeira.
Also, on the 26th, from 9:30 am, at Praça da República, a walk will take place (as part of the Municipality's Physical Activity Promotion Plan) with the aim of raising awareness of this cause.
This initiative counted on the collaboration of pre-school and 1st cycle students in the municipality, children who attend activities at the Family Support and Parental Counseling Center (CAFAP), the Tavira + Project of the Irene Rolo Foundation, as well as the Integrated Support for Children “A Gaivota”.
