Municipality supports Olhanense 1912 to raise awareness about breast cancer

The Municipality of Olhão is supporting Olhanense 1912, which joined the Algarve Oncological Association and the Fundação António Aleixo to develop a solidarity initiative whose main objective is to publicize the work carried out by these institutions and raise awareness of breast cancer and the importance of foster families.

Thus, last weekend, the team took to the field at the José Arcanjo Stadium with new pink equipment, in association with Pink October, an awareness campaign that aims to alert society to the importance of prevention. and early diagnosis of breast cancer.

The shirts are available for sale to the public, with profits going to the Algarve Oncological Association.

 

 

With regard to the António Aleixo Foundation, the objective of the club from Olhão was to publicize the project “All Children Have the Right to Grow up in a Family”, which aims to publicize and attract foster families for children aged 0 to 18. who, for various reasons, cannot grow up with their biological family.

Supporting Olhanense 1912 in this initiative was the vice-president of the municipality João Evaristo, who was accompanied by councilor Elsa Parreira.

The mayor congratulated the club, highlighting that «more than a club, it is a big family, which brings together and participates in the causes and life of the municipality, whether in culture, for example, by hosting the Drumschool music school, or in the social area, by embracing two noble causes in this way, contributing not only in sports, but in several areas to elevate the name of Olhão».
