Ana Abrunhosa visits projects supported by European funds in the Algarve

Minister will visit Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Faro, Olhão, Tavira and Castro Marim

Ana Abrunhosa will be in the Algarve this Tuesday and Wednesday, 21st and 22nd November, to visit projects developed with the support of European funds managed in the region, either ongoing or nearing completion.

The Minister of Territorial Cohesion will be in Loulé tomorrow, at 17pm, where she will come across investments in scientific infrastructure in the area of ​​Health, promoted by the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC), a partnership between the University of Algarve and the Centro Hospitalar e Universitário do Algarve (CHUA).

With a global value of 8,87 Million Euros (M€), these two investments aim to create a center of research excellence and aim to enhance the cooperation of a set of multidisciplinary skills with a high impact on scientific production, providing infrastructure equipped with cutting-edge technology to successfully recruit young doctors and doctors passionate about developing their research ideas with an emphasis on translational and clinical research, based on six units: Serum bank – Seroteca, public umbilical cord cell bank, Biobank, Entomological research center, Advanced Research Unit in Computed Tomography and Clinical genetics laboratory.

Later, at 19pm, Ana Abrunhosa visits the expansion and renovation of the Residential Structure for the Elderly (ERPI) at Santa Casa da Misericórdia, in São Brás de Alportel.

With a total investment of 3,5 million, this operation aims, according to the CCDR, «to expand and renovate the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de São Brás de Alportel building, where ERPI, the Day Center and the Health Service operate. Home Support (SAD), making it a modern, efficient and safe space for users with 11 new rooms with capacity for an additional 22 users, a living and activities room, with pantry, and four sanitary facilities with a geriatric bath».

At the end of the intervention, the capacity will be 85 users in the Residential Home, 10 in the Day Center and 20 in the SAD.

On the 22nd, at 9:00 am, Ana Abrunhosa will visit Escola Básica 2+3 Prof. Paula Nogueira, in Olhão, where there will be expansion, rehabilitation and modernization works, with a total investment of 4,5 million.

At 10:15 am, in Moncarapacho, the minister visits the construction of the Occupational Activities Center (CAO - Disability) of the Casa do Povo of the Municipality of Olhão.

With one million euros of investment, this intervention aims to «remodel and expand by 294 square meters the current headquarters of the Casa do Povo of the Municipality of Olhão – Moncarapacho, with 775 square meters of gross area located on a plot of land with a total area of ​​2.757 square meters , for the installation of a CAO dedicated to supporting people with disabilities, which, due to its scope, intended to establish itself as a reference CAO for the Municipality of Olhão and the peripheral areas».

At 11 am it's time to visit the requalification of the Moncarapacho Market, which is part of the Regional Network of
Local Markets – Requalification, Management and Dynamization (3rd phase) within the scope of PADRE 2020, which, as an intermunicipal project, comprises two investment components: one aimed at the physical requalification of markets and the other management component, contributing to the boosting the local economy, valuing markets, quality products and benefiting the trade of local products in an integrated and articulated way and with inter-municipal coverage.

At 12pm, Ana Abrunho will be at the Algarve Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Diminished Children (AAPCDM), in Faro, where there is now an Occupational Activities Center (CAO – Disability).

«This operation aims to contribute to increasing the coverage rate of equipment of this nature in the Algarve Region, in order to promote social inclusion and reduce discrimination, through the creation of a new social response and the expansion of an already existing response. existing, reinforcing the region's response aimed at people with disabilities in the area of ​​Mental Health, which is especially lacking in this territory», explains the CCDR in a note.

With a total investment of 4,16 million, the building will consist of the CAO, Residential Home, administrative and services area, with everything that is common to both social responses, more specifically the administration and services, being in the Administrative area. of support, in the CAO area, the activity rooms, physiotherapy and gym, and finally we find the bedrooms and respective lounge in the LR area.

The location of the building will allow for future expansions, if necessary. At this stage, the aim is to have a capacity for the CAO of 32 users and for the Residential Home of 30 users.

At 15pm, Ana Abrunhosa will be in Faro, at CHUA, where there will be investments in infrastructure and equipment.

With a total investment of 7,19 million, this operation promoted the requalification of diagnostic and treatment health services and equipment at CHUA, in the Hospital Units of Faro and Portimão, and some investments in the Lagos Hospital Unit and the Basic Emergency Services in Albufeira, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel and Vila Real de Santo António.

At 16:30 pm, the minister will go to Tavira to visit the rehabilitation of the Cine Teatro António Pinheiro.

The remodeling and requalification of the Cine Teatro António Pinheiro, which now has a maximum capacity of 590 seats (divided between the balcony – seated, and the standing audience) of which 368 seats are seated, is the result of a total investment of 7,69 million.

The Cine Teatro, as a concert hall, is dedicated to the presentation of theater, dance, music and cinema, but it can also be used as a conference and workshop room, being a multipurpose building.

The day's visits end at 17:30 pm, on the Ciclovia Castro Marim- Altura – Section Espargosa – EN125 Praia Verde, in Castro Marim.

This operation concerns the construction of a cycle path on EM 125-6, covering a length of five kilometers, starting at EN 125, at the intersection that gives access to Praia Verde, ending at Espargosa (passing through the towns of Vista Real, Urbanização Quinta do Sobral and São Bartolomeu), where it will connect to the end of the already implemented cycle path and access to Vila de Castro Marim, is the result of a total investment of 876 thousand euros.

«The current transversal profile of EM 125-6 does not have paved shoulders, so its use by cyclists and pedestrians is carried out in very unsafe conditions»; explains CCDR.

With this intervention, a cycling lane is created alongside the current road, with adequate road planning and signage, providing greater safety for users. The transversal profile will be 2,5 meters wide, plus a 0,50m protective zone for the carriageway.

Rainwater drainage will also be carried out and vertical and horizontal signage will be placed, with the segregation of the cycling corridor ensured by a drop in level with a curb.
