Manuel Pizarro, Minister of Health, was this Tuesday, the 17th, in São Brás de Alportel, to visit the ongoing work on the rehabilitation of the Health Center, budgeted at 300 thousand euros, and to see the new Health Unit Existing family in this municipality, which allows, since October 2nd, there to be a family doctor for the entire population.

The member of the Government also learned about the construction project for the new building that will house the Villa Family Health Unit and was at the site where this investment, which will cost more than 2 million euros, will be made.

As part of a visit to the region, which took him to Olhão, where there is also 100% family doctor coverage, and Faro, to meet with the mayors of the Algarve, Manuel Pizarro made a point of learning about projects in the health sector that are supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan, as is the case with the rehabilitation of the São Brás de Alportel Health Center .

«We are making public investments in this unprecedented area», illustrated Vitor Guerreiro, president of the Chamber of São Brás de Alportel.

Considering that «health is a pillar of action for the municipality, which has sought to find conditions and solutions to overcome difficulties and guarantee better access to health care for the population», the mayor spoke of the transfer of powers from the State to the Municipality in this area , a challenge that he says he accepted «convinced that it is an added value for the community and health professionals».

Manuel Pizarro was pleased to see the “PRR in full swing” and argued that “decentralization, through the transfer of skills, is already helping to accelerate the implementation of these projects, creating greater proximity to the community and services public health services”.

The visit included a visit to the facilities of the São Brás de Alportel Health Center, where the Minister of Health had the opportunity to contact health professionals and learn about the ongoing improvement works and culminated with a trip to Rua das Comunidades, at the Fonte Maria block, north of the town, where the future building of the Family Health Unit will be built, «which is intended to be a reality in 2024», according to the municipality.
