Showcooking at the Sardine Festival will “pull the embers” to the queen of the party

The initiative is promoted by Confraria Gastronómica da Sardinha de Portimão

“Pull the ember to our sardine”. This is the name of a showcooking which takes place this Saturday, August 5th, at 19 pm, on the secondary stage of the Sardine Festival, in Portimão.

The initiative is promoted by Confraria Gastronómica da Sardinha de Portimão.

The event has the support of the Municipality of Portimão, Taberna de Portimão and Barlapescas – Cooperative of Fishing Owners of the Barlavento, and is led by the renowned chef José Moura, from Tivoli Hotels & Resorts, a great promoter of regional cuisine and well-known for taking advantage of the potential of the products that the Algarve has to offer.

«Participation in the 'showcooking' is free and constitutes an opportunity for visitors to the Sardine Festival to discover different ways of cooking the queen species of the Portuguese seas, much appreciated around the world and with high nutritional value», says the Portimão City Council .

The initiative will also feature the free distribution of hundreds of cloth bags alluding to the Confraria Gastronómica da Sardinha de Portimão and the Aqua Portimão “Sabe a Mar” project, which aim to honor the city’s tradition, the memory of its people and the culture popular.

This will be the first action of a project that intends to honor the main ex-libris of local cuisine, through video recreation of old recipes where sardines predominate and the publication of a thematic book, among other cultural, culinary and digital initiatives that will be published on the Confraria Gastronómica da Sardinha de Portimão website, to be presented shortly.
