The cooperation protocol between the Union of Parishes of Faro and Associação Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes for the use of a building in Culatra for the installation of the Local Civil Protection Unit (ULPC) was signed this Thursday, June 22.
«As of today, we have a safer and more prepared island of Culatra to respond effectively to various risks through the newly created Local Civil Protection Unit», believes President Bruno Lage.
In a note, the Union of Parishes of Faro explains that at the beginning of the year the creation of the ULPC of Ilha da Culatra was approved, which has an employee hired by the União das Freguesias de Faro to work permanently in this service.
The objective is «to prevent collective risks and the occurrence of serious accidents or catastrophes, to provide support, protection and assistance to the entire population of Culatra, Hangares and Farol, as well as to all those who visit this island».
